Reid has soloed with the LA Opera, LA Philharmonic, LA Master Chorale and the Jacaranda Music Festival in works ranging from Glass’ Kooyaanisquatsi, Stravinsky’s Renard and Britten’s Curlew River to Mozart’s Requiem and Bach’s St. John’s Passion. At LA Opera Reid has sung in more than 100 productions, performing roles in MacBeth, Thaïs, Billy Budd, Salome, Gianni Schicci, Der Rosenkavalier, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Die Zauberflöte, Carmen and La Boheme.
At the Hollywood Bowl, Reid has appeared as a soloist for 9 summers singing and dancing with Frederica von Stade in Bernstein’s Candide conducted by Bramwell Tovey and The Jailor in Tosca conducted by Dudamel as well as other solo appearances. Other conductors with whom he has sung include: Conlon, Domingo, Dutoit, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gershon and Salonen. Reid attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he studied voice with famed vocal pedagogue Richard Miller. Other teachers have included: Beverly Johnson, Giorgio Tozzi, Fred Carama, Joan Zajac and his current teacher, Judith Natalucci.
Classical Singer magazine recently quoted Reid in two articles geared towards young, upcoming singers: “Suffer for Your Art” and “Pursuing Your Passion”. And he was featured in an article for The Advocate magazine entitled “Alive and Singing.”
